To my mind, software applications are named in two different ways. Some software applications get a name that has nothing to do with what they can do (something that sounds cool or simply the name of the developer). Like for example the Opera web browser. Judging by the name – Opera – you would never know that you’re dealing with a web browser.

Other applications are named according to what they do. The application AVI Splitter falls in this category. Just take a look at the application’s name and you immediately realize what it can do. In this case, what AVI Splitter does is to allow you to split an AVI file, a larger one, into several smaller pieces.

Video cameras and even compact digital cameras are becoming more and more advanced as their resolution tends to go up and the size of the video file also rises. That's why there are times when it's extremely necessary to split a large video file in two parts, for fitting each one on a regular DVD.

The program is very easy to install and also fast in this process. It takes up little hard disk space and it's compatible with most versions of Windows. It also requires low system resources.

AVI Splitter doesn't have any complicated options and settings and thus it can be used by beginners without problems. Besides saving split AVI files, it can also save the current selected frame as an image file.
